Before you install

Two gates matter here. Check both before you book anyone.

  • Provincial: the program works through participating installers. Confirm yours before work starts, and read the program page first. Checked October 22, 2026.
  • Federal: the retroactivity period for the National Heat Pump Rebate starts on November 1, 2026. Households that meet the program's eligibility criteria and install eligible heat pumps starting on November 1, 2026 will be able to apply once the program launches early in 2027. The criteria, the eligible list and the rebate amounts are published only as of November 1, 2026. Source: canada.ca, read October 22, 2026.

Until those rules are out, nobody can promise you a federal outcome. That includes us.

Landlords and investors

The general stream of Oil to Electric allows up to two rental properties. That is the provincial rule on the page we read on October 22, 2026. The federal rebate has no landlord answer yet. We will add it after November 1.

Owning a rental is not the same as renting the equipment. If a company leases you the unit, check the program page before you count on any incentive.

What to do before 2027

Collect your heating bills, note your fuel type and ask participating installers for quotes. Then read how to apply for the order of steps. If you install after November 1, 2026, keep every invoice for a federal claim, subject to the conditions above.
